The End of a Series

During my ten years of writing, I have written over 70 books, but there is something very special about publishing the final book in a series.

On Friday, September 10th, I published Bradley. It was the sixth and final book in the Loving a Young Series. A series that helps six siblings find their forever loves.

I can’t quite remember how I got the idea for the series, but once I started writing Wesley, Book 1, the rest of the series just flew right onto the pages. Some stories can be difficult to write, but all six of these books practically wrote themselves.

It’s important when I write the final book to make sure that I give updates on the rest of the couples so that readers can see how happy they are all doing, and what their lives are like now. Writing a series that deals with siblings, made this particular last book easier in that regard.

Since they are all related, they are constantly being seen from one book to the next, so tying up the loss ends for this series was easy. I know some of my readers were sad that the series was over, but happily, it’s not the end of the Young’s, because you will see them again when the spin-off series, Loving a Winston, starts publishing next year.

If you love to binge read an entires series, now you can with the Loving A Young series on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited.

Growing Up and Moving On by Stacy Eaton

Thirteen years ago, I sat in the high school gymnasium and watched my son cross the stage for his diploma. I remember sitting there thinking about the day that his sister would do it too. It seemed like it would be forever and a day before my sweet little girl was crossing over that stage. This past week, that forever and a day occurred, and my daughter graduated.

My son went on to join the Navy, and now has a devoted wife and two beautiful children. I haven’t seen him since the pandemic hit, and I have yet to meet my granddaughter in person, but that is coming very soon.

With my daughter graduating, I find myself rather reflective these days. I guess that is natural to think back on those earlier days when they were young. As much as I wish I could stop time, I know I can’t and I have had to recently undo the tight leash I had on my daughter so that she can now spread her wings and fly on her own soon. Now that high school is officially over, college is just around the corner and we are in full swing of preparing for that with orientation later this month.

With her heading off in August, that leaves the nest empty, and I’m not sure exactly how to feel about that. It will be a new world where it’s just my husband and me on a daily basis. It’s a good thing that we like each other. For thirty-one years I have had a child under my roof, and now that will change.

But that’s okay. Like I wanted my son to succeed, I can only dream of what my daughter will achieve, and hope that she will find everything she has ever dreamed to have.

I guess with her gone, I’ll have more time to write, and I look forward to putting more of myself into my work. One of the books that I’ll be working on is Mission: Courage. It is the fourth book in the Rise Again Warrior Series. A series that is emotional and intense and deals with what our military service members go through once they return from war.

The Unexpected

I will admit right off the bat that I am not a fan of surprises. Nope. They stress me out. Some people love them, but I’m not one of them. So when life throws a little unexpected at me, I have to figure out how to deal with that stress and keep going. We all do, don’t we?

In the last few weeks, I’ve had a whole lot of stress going on. My mother fell, she lives alone and laid on the floor for twelve hours before she figured out how to get a message to me. She spent a week in the hospital being treated for a variety of things, and now she is recovering at a rehab facility and doing much better.

But that’s a lot of stress and guilt. My life was put on hold in the middle of a very important project, and my focus was on my mother and what she needed. Then add in my husband having 2 COVID exposures at work, and being on quarantine here at home. My concern was that he brought it home with him and I took it to my mother at the hospital. Talk about overwhelming stress until I get my test back. Negative, as were both of his. Thankfully.

I spent almost two hours working on finally getting my husband, myself, and our daughter scheduled to get our shots, and I’m happy to report we all got them yesterday. No major side effects for hubby and me with the Johnson & Johnson shot. Just a headache for us both. My daughter got the Pfizer since she’s not 18 yet, and as far as I know, she feels fine. But she’s a teen with a late morning class so she’s still sleeping.

So there are some bad unexpected things that happen in life, but then there are some good! One of the series that I write is about the good unexpected things that happen, and the fifth book in the series, Unexpected Desires, releases on the 23rd of this month.

Music and Books!

I’m a huge music person–like I always have music playing. I don’t just stick to one genre either. Some days the classic rock is kicking my speakers, or I break out the vinyl and listen to a few of my dad’s albums, and some days I every have classic piano on. It all depends on what I’m doing and just how high my blood pressure is that day.

Recently I finished writing and editing Riley, Loving a Young Series, Book 4, and I came across a song that was so fitting for Ethan. Here’s the book blurb:

Riley is always the life of the party, and it’s Ethan that is there to pick her up and keep her together. He knows her almost as well as she knows herself, and he knows she will never love him as he does her.

Now Ethan wants more out of life and love, but Riley denies her feelings and insists they are just friends with benefits. When a training opportunity comes up that will get Ethan out of town for months, he jumps on it. It’s the only way to get over Riley and move on.

With Ethan gone and a new guy in her life, Riley finds herself dealing with several emotional issues without the help of her best friend. A family emergency has Ethan feeling lost without Riley there to lean on, but he refuses to go to her and seeks solace with another. Will Riley make the right choices, and finally, admit how she feels, or will she find herself alone and falling further down the rabbit hole.

When I started writing this book, I came across the song, “I’m Never Getting Over You” by Gone West. It hit me square in the chest as I could see Ethan saying these things, and Riley rebuking him. Check out the music video.
