After my darling Ralph passed away two years ago, we wanted our families to stay close and we made sure it happened by starting a new family tradition. My husband’s daughter and her family live in Virginia Beach and my daughter and family in New Jersey. I’m the only one left in Florida with the exception of my two granddaughters who miss their father as much as me.
Last year we all met in Vermont, and stayed at the Hyatt hotel high in the mountains. Such a beautiful hotel and vista, we were thrilled from the start. So many things to do and the hotel provided entertainment all day long. The kids ziplined, hiked, and after a hard day of activity could spend the evening in a beautiful heated pool. Paradise.
This year we went to Asheville where none of us had been before. A few of the children are college age and detoured to see a few of the colleges available to them during their drive back and forth. I flew, which isn’t so much fun anymore.
You know how it goes. when one thing goes wrong, everything does. Unfortunately, that happened to me! Even lost my EMX card—so if you see it could you please send it back to me? LOL
All family vacations don’t need to be grand to be amazing and memorable.
Getting together is important, especially with all this craziness right now. I wish everyone would embrace what my family has–being willing to start a new family tradition. Be grateful for every day and all our loved ones, and find some new traditions of your own!
