Yesterday there was a medical emergency regarding my special needs brother which required me to speak to our Medicare provider, only they wouldn’t talk to me…even though I am his sister and legal guardian.
So, here’s a tip on how to solve a problem before it becomes one if you or a relative need an intervention on your behalf due to an illness or HIPPA matter.
Just because you have legal paperwork on hand stating you are who you claim to be, it has to be submitted to the proper channels at the onset. I answered all of Medicare’s dumb identifying and trick questions, but if your legal power of attorney isn’t on file, they will not budge, and you can’t help who you’re trying to help. I was trying to get his coordination of benefits corrected for an upcoming doctor appointment, but whoever set up his profile in the organization that sponsors his living arrangements never put me down as a contact person. It was maddening.
Simply provide any power of attorney or guardianship paperwork to the proper channels before you become ill, so your loved ones don’t get as frustrated/angry as I did yesterday.
Anyhow, here’s a story I wrote about me and Eddie, although I took some literary liberties and changed our names. RUNNING ON ALL FOURS is based on our lives and what it was like to be raised with a severely handicapped sibling back in the days before specialists or support groups existed. It’s available on all venues and here’s the link:
If you’re into something lighter, I also have a fun story on pre-order right now called A Whole Lot of Everything. “When a kidnapped social worker dressed as a nun seeks help from a bartender still on parole, a whole lot of everything’s about to commence.”
Available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Whole-Lot-Everything-Loves-Salvation-ebook/dp/B0B3VDWYSC
Last but certainly not least we have EIGHT never before read stories coming up in IRRESISTIBLE: Madly in Love With a Coworker – Preorder Now! Plenty of love to go around! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09WMQJWC5
Sometimes, love just happens. When you find that special someone, hopefully, it’s convenient.
But what if it’s not?
What if you’re madly in love with a coworker?
Workplace romance can sometimes be complicated, but always unique.
