This month, I’m focusing on art because my newest inspirational release, A Summer To Cherish, features an artist, David Fodero, who is losing his eyesight. He is the hero of the story. Ashley Madden is the spunky heroine who teaches art to children with disabilities.

I am a musician and applaud the arts. In my research for A Summer To Cherish, my newest sweet inspirational romance, I discovered many similarities between art and music.
Consider the following:
The arts encourage you to be more observant.
Studies prove that the arts improve problem-solving skills.
The arts inspire your imagination and opens the spirit to exciting possibilities.
It has also been shown that the arts help reduce stress-whether you’re a painter or a pianist. They develop your self-esteem, providing a sense of achievement.
So, I encourage you to take up a new instrument, paint a picture, build a shed. I guarantee your well-being and contentment in everyday life will improve greatly.
New contemporary inspirational release! A Summer To Cherish.

Faith is fragile. Faith takes time. And the best solutions are always painted with love.
David Fodero followed his artistic vision to a wildly successful career. Now, day by day, that vision is cruelly shrinking, altering his perception, skewing his perspective…and all but destroying his faith.
Alone in a mountain cabin near Cherish, North Carolina, David wrestles with his inner critic as he struggles to put brush to canvas. Until he meets a luminous woman who dispels his crippling fear with her warmth and laughter.
Ashley Madden is a born fixer. So she’s sure she can be forgiven for going above and beyond to find out what happened to the artist whose gallery sales support her work with handicapped kids—the artist who disappeared from public life with no warning or explanation.
Ashley’s optimism is a balm to David’s hurting soul. Yet as their attraction warms, Ashley senses David is holding something back—and that saving her own dream is intimately tied to restoring his faith.
But will the truths they finally confess to each other wind up as stumbling blocks too large to overcome?

You won’t get any argument from me! Many of my friends are involved in the arts, but it makes perfect sense that this theatre major would surround myself with like-minded people. One musician friend can no longer play, but she now has an internet radio show where she features indie artists on the first half of her program. I love how many of these friends have more than one talent and can seamlessly go from music to painting or another art form.
Mary,
You are so right, and your story about your indie artist is interesting and inspiring. Yes, many “artistic” people can go from one art form to another.
