Culinary Delights

So, my hub and I were watching one of the food network channels, as we enjoy trying new recipes together. However, what I saw that evening quite dismayed me.

The chef being interviewed was the owner of an Italian restaurant and mixing pizza dough with his bare hands. More than that, both his entire forearms were immersed in a huge vat of dough, which completely turned me off.

“What if some of his arms hairs get into the dough?” I asked Joe. “I much rather eat a restaurant where I’m pretty certain the cooks wear gloves – preferably the kind that go up to their elbows.”

Joe patted my butt fondly. “You’re way too concerned about sanitary conditions and that sort of stuff, Miss OCD,” he said. “The majority of the population who eat in fine restaurants don’t complain, are excited to go out for dinner PERIOD, and rarely find arm hairs in their meal.”

“Well, how would you know? Have you ever seen any?” I asked. “Just look at that guy, whipping around the dough with his entire arm.” Then I tried another tact. “When you make homemade pizza, do you ever see your hair covering the pepperoni?”

Joe inspected his arm. “Nah, I guess not. Does that mean I don’t have to take you out for dinner anymore?”

I sent him a sly grin. “No. It just means I won’t be dining at any of those Italian dives you keep making notes about when we travel the country in our RV. I’ll bring an Ellio’s, unless you make it your business to treat me to nicer restaurants.”

Speaking of culinary delights, I’d like to introduce you to my latest novella HONEYMOON IN COFFINVILLE.

Here’s the Blurb:

“What you two need is to have a vision,” their realtor declared as she prepared to close the deal. “Think how spectacular this house will be, once you fix it to your liking.”

After buying an ancient mansion in dire need of a makeover, lovers Shannon and Rick Burke are treated to more visions than they bargained for. A well in their back yard reveals a bucket of bones, and an old trunk with secrets is found in the attic.

As the renovations begin, she and Rick discover a decades old diner, with its elderly owner boasting his homemade desserts are ripe with special hormones.

The sudden appearance of an unusual white cat, coupled with the century old secret in the attic leads Shannon to believe the cat never ages. Although she’s lured by the purity of the odd feline, she begins to wonder if it’s a guardian angel, or a creature of darkness. https://amzn.to/2LlFmHv
